Political science is an area of studies that seeks to analyze the state and power, and interpret the various aspects of the political community. Generally, it is the theoretical basis of public administration at local, state, national and international levels. The area also studies the relations between institutions, the practices that constitute public life and the modes of research that promote citizenship.

The objective is to deepen the understanding of political action and to develop theoretical tools to analyze historical and current facts, in addition to presenting subsidies for decision making, project definition and public policies.\r

It is very common for politicians or public agents to have backgrounds and specializations in the field. This is because understanding the concepts helps, for example, to make decisions that impact the administration of a city or the management of governments.\r

How long does it take to learn Political Science?

You can take a 3-year bachelor’s degree in Political Science (some are 4 years) or you can take smaller courses to specialize. It can be a postgraduate degree, a master’s degree, or more specific, shorter online courses focused on a particular area.

Where should I start to learn Political Science?

There is a lot of free material on the internet, so this may be the first step to better understand what it is all about. Then you can invest in short (2 or 3 hours) online courses with introductory concepts or even more advanced content.\r

It is good to remember that Political Science is a field of study that involves other areas such as Sociology, International Relations, Economics, Anthropology, History and Law. Therefore, it may be interesting to take online courses in these areas as well.\r
